Humanists of North Jersey...at a glance Who: We are an eclectic grouping of individuals who enjoy free inquiry into any and all topics. Our diverse membership guarantees lively and enthusiastic debate of philosophical, scientific, and cultural issues. We view our physical existence through the lens of objective reality and celebrate human consciousness as the sole source of enlightenment, wisdom, knowledge, emotion, morality, justice and creativity. What: Our Saturday morning meetings bring in a steady stream of outside speakers to inform and challenge us on a wide range of topics, with plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion. Sometimes we have an open forum, at which anyone can bring up a topic for the group to discuss. Disagreement is frequent, encouraged and generally congenial. Humor happens. Other activities include: a community food drive; group-wide luncheons twice a year for fellowship; an annual solstice party in someone's home; a picnic in July; and regular after-meeting luncheons for further discussion of topics of current interest. Sometimes informal, small groups will get tougher, in a friend's home in the evening to discuss ideas they select When: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on the second Saturday of each month, excluding July and August.
